The gap has to be ranging from 0,5 to 2,5 mm.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove a weight wire from the accumulator.
2. Install the piston of the first cylinder in VMT in a compression step.
3. Take off driving belts.
4. Remove assembly of the air filter.
5. Remove the mechanism of a tension of a driving compressor belt of the air conditioning system.
6. Remove the radiator fan together with a casing.
7. Unscrew a bolt of fastening of a pulley of a bent shaft, at the same time, using a special chain key, hold a pulley from a provorachivaniye.
8. Remove a pulley of a bent shaft.
9. Remove central and two side casings of a gear belt.
10. Turn a pulley of a bent shaft so that tags on a pulley of a bent shaft and on pulleys of the left and right camshafts were combined with indexes (see rice. An arrangement of adjusting tags on the engine of 2,2 l).
11. Using white paint, note the mutual provision of a gear belt and a pulley of a bent shaft, and also a gear belt and pulleys of camshafts, and also the provision of pulleys of camshafts relatively each other (see rice. An arrangement of adjusting tags on pulleys of the right camshafts of the engine of 2,5 l and the Arrangement of adjusting tags on pulleys of the left camshafts of the engine of 2,5 l).
12. Weaken bolts of fastening of the mechanism of a tension and remove a single pulley (see rice. An arrangement of a pulley of the mechanism of a tension and a single pulley on the engine of 2,2 l).
13. Take off a gear belt.
14. Remove a pulley from a bent shaft.
15. Unscrew bolts and remove the mechanism of a tension of a gear belt (see rice. An arrangement of a bolt of fastening of the mechanism of a tension of a gear belt on models since 1998).
16. Holding special flat-nose pliers pulleys of camshafts from a provorachivaniye, unscrew bolts of fastening of pulleys and remove pulleys from camshafts.

Check


Prevention

Do not overwind and do not bend a gear belt. Exclude hit on a gear belt of oil, cooling liquid or fuel.


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove single pulleys and check a condition of their bearings.
2. If there was a vykrashivaniye of teeths of a gear belt, perhaps, the oil pump or the camshaft is jammed (see rice. Defects of a gear belt in the form of the painted tooth or cracks at the tooth basis).

Prevention

If there was a rupture of a gear belt on the working engine, it is possible that there was an impact of pistons about the valve therefore the valve can be bent. Check gaps of valves. On the bent valves valvate gaps will be much more demanded.


3. If there is a considerable wear or stratification on an external surface of a gear belt, check a condition of a racetrack of single pulleys.
4. If there is a wear or damage only on one party of a belt, check a guide of a gear belt and alignment of pulleys of a gear belt.
5. With any defects on a gear belt it needs to be replaced.

Installation

Installation of the mechanism of a tension on models till 1997

Sequence of installation of a gear belt


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. If internal casings of a gear belt were removed, establish them on the place (see rice. Arrangement of bolts of fastening of an internal casing of a gear belt).
2. Install pulleys of a gear belt on camshafts and fix by bolts, having tightened them the required moment.
3. Establish a pulley of a gear belt on a bent shaft. Check combination of adjusting tags with indexes on all pulleys.
4. Establish a single pulley of the mechanism of a tension.
5. Before installation of the mechanism of a tension on models till 1997 press a plunger and record it a pin (see rice. Sequence of installation of a gear belt).
6. Before installation of the mechanism of a tension on engines since 1998 install the tension mechanism under a press and slowly press a plunger and record a pin.
7. Establish a gear belt on pulleys (see rice. Installation of a gear belt on the SOHC engine of 2,2 l).
8. On DOHC engines makes installation of a gear belt on pulleys in a certain sequence (see rice. Installation of the mechanism of a tension on models till 1997).
9. Establish single pulleys.
10. On models till 1997 weaken bolts of fastening of the mechanism of a tension and move the tension mechanism to the left and fix bolts.
11. Take the pin fixing a tension mechanism plunger. Check that all adjusting tags on pulleys are correctly combined with indexes.
12. Establish a guide of a gear belt and fix by bolts (see rice. An arrangement of bolts of fastening of a guide of a gear belt, Check of a gap between a guide and a gear belt).
13. Establish casings of a gear belt and a pulley of a bent shaft.
14. Further installation is made in the sequence, the return to removal.
